Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Participant Declaration
ICAR 2026 Congress Innsbruck, Austria
All registrants, participants and accompanying persons acknowledge that the ICAR 2026 Congress in Innsbruck, including but not limited to the Practical Day, workshops, demonstrations, companion programs, transfers, side events and related activities, may involve inherent risks.
These activities may take place in indoor, outdoor, alpine and high-alpine environments, including areas such as the Nordkette/Seegrube, event venues, transport facilities, walking routes, demonstration areas and other locations connected with the Congress. Participation may involve physical activity, exposure to weather conditions and terrain-related risks. Inherent risks may include, but are not limited to:
- slips, trips and falls on uneven, steep, wet, icy, snowy or otherwise difficult terrain;
- exposure to weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, ice, fog, thunderstorms or sudden changes in weather;
- risks associated with alpine terrain, including steep slopes, loose stones, falling objects, limited visibility, height exposure and difficult access;
- physical exertion, fatigue, chill, dizziness, dehydration, altitude-related discomfort or other health-related issues;
- risks connected with demonstrations, technical rescue equipment, rope systems, vehicles, aircraft, cable cars, lifts, transport, machinery or other equipment used during the Congress;
- possible equipment failure or malfunction of the participant’s own equipment or equipment provided by third parties;
- risks arising from the conduct, decisions, errors or negligence of the participant, accompanying persons, other participants or third parties;
- accidents, illness or injury occurring in areas where immediate medical care may be limited or delayed despite existing safety and rescue arrangements.
I confirm that I am physically and medically fit to participate in the activities for which I am registered. Where I register other persons, including accompanying persons, I confirm that they are physically and medically fit to participate in the activities for which they are registered.
I further confirm that neither I nor, where applicable, any person registered by me has any medical, physical or mental condition that could endanger ourselves or others during participation, or that appropriate medical advice has been obtained and responsibility for participation is accepted.
I agree to wear suitable clothing and footwear and to bring and use appropriate personal equipment where required. Where I register other persons, including accompanying persons, I confirm that they have been informed of and agree to these requirements. I understand that certain activities may require specific equipment or safety instructions and that participation may be refused if these requirements are not met.
I agree to follow all instructions given by the organizer, authorized staff, guides, instructors, venue operators, transport providers, emergency services and public authorities. Where I register other persons, including accompanying persons, I confirm that they have been informed of and agree to follow such instructions. I understand that failure to follow such instructions may result in exclusion from individual activities or from the Congress program without any entitlement to compensation. This may apply in particular where a participant appears insufficiently equipped, physically unfit, unable or unwilling to follow instructions, or where their conduct may endanger themselves or others. Participants and accompanying persons must not take part in any activity while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication, or in any other condition that may impair judgment, coordination, physical ability or safe participation.
I acknowledge that the organizer may modify, restrict, postpone or cancel activities at any time for safety, weather, organizational, regulatory or operational reasons. This applies in particular to outdoor, alpine, companion program and Practical Day activities.
I confirm that I have adequate insurance coverage for my participation, including health insurance, accident insurance, travel insurance, liability insurance and, where applicable, coverage for rescue, mountain rescue, medical treatment and emergency transport costs in Austria. Where I register other persons, including accompanying persons, I confirm that they also have adequate insurance coverage for their participation.
Participants acknowledge that certain services, facilities and activities connected with the Congress may be provided or operated by third parties, including but not limited to venue operators, cable car and lift operators, transport providers, accommodation providers, external guides, instructors, contractors, public authorities and emergency services. To the extent permitted by Austrian law, the organizer shall not be liable for acts, omissions, instructions, services, equipment, facilities or decisions of such third parties, unless responsibility cannot legally be excluded.
In the event of an accident, illness or emergency, participants authorize the organizer, authorized staff, guides, instructors, venue operators, transport providers, emergency services and public authorities to arrange or initiate first aid, rescue, medical treatment, evacuation or emergency transport as deemed necessary. Any costs arising from such measures shall be borne by the participant or by the participant’s insurance, unless liability of the organizer is established under applicable law.
To the extent permitted by Austrian law, I and, where applicable, any persons registered by me participate in the ICAR 2026 Congress and related activities at our own risk. The liability of the organizer, its representatives, employees, volunteers, contractors, partner organizations, venue operators, transport providers and other persons or entities involved in the organization or execution of the Congress shall be limited to the extent legally permissible.
Nothing in this declaration shall exclude or limit liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted under applicable Austrian law, in particular in cases of intentional or grossly negligent conduct or where liability for personal injury cannot legally be excluded.
This declaration applies to all activities, locations and program elements connected with the ICAR 2026 Congress, including optional activities, companion programs and activities for accompanying persons, unless separate terms and conditions apply.
